Emily and Kieran met, or rather didn’t meet (despite having so many mutual friends!), until right before Kieran left to study at Oxford. When he came back for Easter break, they planned to go on a few dates but were both surprised at how well things were going and ended up spending a lot of time together. Not long after, Kieran proposed in front of Dahlgren Chapel at Georgetown – where they had first met the summer before. We actually took some of their engagement photos at Georgetown in the spring.

Emily and Kieran wanted a classic wedding and knew The Hay Adams was the perfect venue. With it’s elegant architecture and downtown DC location, it was the perfect place to celebrate the start of their marriage. Their faith is especially important to them, so the wedding mass at St Dominic was incredibly special. They had multiple priests celebrating the Mass and it was truly a beautiful ceremony.

In celebration of their honeymoon in France, the day even included a few subtle French themes. They drank Veuve Cliquot (our favorite champagne), throughout the day and gave out macarons from Olivia Macaron as wedding favors.

We had originally planned to take photos around DC but rain throughout the day took us to the top level of the National Portrait gallery for portraits. The uppermost level of the gallery has a beautiful black and white tile floor + lots of light – so it ended up being perfect! And thankfully at sunset the weather cleared up a bit and we were able to sneak out onto the balcony of the Hay Adams for a few photos overlooking the White House.

We absolutely loved being a part of Emily and Kieran’s day and we couldn’t be more excited for them to be husband and wife!
